Sell Through Square? Your SideStall Stall Can Now Keep Itself Up to Date

Link your Square account and the name, price and stock on your SideStall listings follow your till. What syncs, what stays yours, and how to set it up.

Square sync page - live

If you already run your stand through Square, you know the double handling. The last tray goes at the till, and then you’ve got to remember to mark it sold out everywhere else too. Square sync takes that job off you.

Connect your Square account once and your SideStall stall keeps itself up to date. Your items link up, and a sale at the till updates your stock on SideStall as well. No double entry, and far less chance of selling a tray online that has just gone at the stand.

What Square looks after

On a linked item, Square drives the name, the price and the stock level. Change a price in Square and SideStall follows.

Changes come through from Square’s own notifications, and SideStall also does a full re-check at least every six hours, so your stock stays in sync.

What stays yours on SideStall

Everything that makes your stall look like yours stays on SideStall, and you keep editing it there: photos, descriptions, categories, dietary labels, availability and your volume deals.

Square’s item photos don’t come across, so your listings keep the photos you’ve already put on SideStall.

SideStall only ever reads from Square. It asks for read-only access and never writes anything back to your Square account, so nothing you do on SideStall changes your till.

Setting it up

It’s done in the seller portal. Go to Integrations, then Square, then Connect. You’ll pick which Square location each of your stalls matches, then confirm which items to link.

If a product already exists on both sides, it links up as it is. New items from Square can come in as drafts, so they don’t go live on your stall until you’ve had a look at them.

Pausing or disconnecting

You can pause syncing any time. When you turn it back on, it catches up on the stock counts it missed.

If you disconnect, the connection and its sync data are deleted, and your listings stay on your stall, fully editable again.

A few things it doesn’t do

Square sync works with Australian Square locations. Items with no fixed price in Square, the ones you price at the till, can’t be linked, and neither can deposit and balance products. It’s one Square account per SideStall account, and one SideStall seller per Square merchant.

Which plan it’s on

Square sync is part of the Commercial plan, which is A$150 a month or A$1,500 a year, with the first 30 days free on your first Commercial subscription. Commercial is also the plan with the seller portal, which is where you set it up.
