Honest, stall app a winner
The Sunday Mail profiles SideStall, the new South Australian app bringing honesty-box stalls into the digital age — and the two Adelaide founders behind it.
Fresh produce, honey pots, homegrown herbs and more are now just a tap away, thanks to a new one-stop roadside stall app.
Launched last Saturday, SideStall allows users to find, buy and sell surplus produce in their area, bringing honesty-box stalls into the digital age. The idea stemmed from co-founder Santo Arabia’s drives between the Adelaide Hills and Gawler, passing roadside stalls but rarely having the chance to stop.
“On the way there, the kids were screaming. On the way back, they were asleep … and I’d forget where the stalls were.”
— Santo Arabia, 47, SideStall co-founder
He created a solution, teaming up with co-founder and software engineer, Vong Kim, 37. The pair developed SideStall in just a few months, launching to nearly 1000 users in its first week.
The app connects buyers with nearby sellers offering everything from fruit and vegetables to homemade goods, complete with in-app payments to replace vulnerable honesty boxes.
