Barossa, Gawler and the Northern Plains: Buying Direct When It's Not Saturday Morning

If you know one thing about buying direct in the Barossa, it is the market at Angaston on a Saturday morning. Deservedly: it is one of the good ones, and if you can get there before the bread goes, you should.

But it runs one morning a week. The growers, bakers and makers behind it live and work in the corridor the whole time, and a lot of them sell from their own place the other six days. That is what this list is: the Barossa, Gawler and the northern plains when it is not Saturday morning.

Every stall below was live on SideStall when we last checked, 25 September 2026, and each name links to its stall page, which shows what that seller has on the table. Opening hours are in the app, not on the page, and so are the exact pickup spot and directions for sellers who choose to show their address.

Nuriootpa and Tanunda

Two Wells and the plains

How to run it as a trip

Two routes. Coming out of Adelaide, the plains run is Waterloo Corner, then Two Wells, then MacDonald Park, and you can have fruit and veg, bread, sourdough, herbs and eggs in the boot without going far. If you are already in the valley, Nuriootpa and Tanunda and then up to Angaston covers honey, olive oil, muffins, lemons and limes, with schnitzel or a dessert box at the Angaston end. Freeling, Roseworthy and Gawler River sit in between if you are driving up or back.

The rest is the same as anywhere. These are people's homes, so check the stall page before you set off, get your order in early for the bread, and take cash as well as your phone. What each seller takes is in the app.

Finding what is open today

1. Open the map. It shows the stalls near you.
2. Search the product, not the stall. Try honey, eggs or olive oil. Search matches what sellers have listed, so a stall name will not turn them up.
3. Check the stall page before you drive.
4. Get your order in early for anything small batch, like the Roseworthy bread.
5. Follow a stall and you get a nudge when there is something new on it.
